Disestablishment: our 2021 Spring Conference event - now on youtube

Our Disesestablishment event on 20th March attracted a record turnout of just under 90 conference goers, and you can now find it on youtube.

The panel discussed

* Why the Church of England still has a privileged role in British politics, with reserved seats in the Lords for its bishops;

* how entangled the British church and state are, and how they can be disentangled.

Panellists were:

• Simon Barrow, Co-Director of the liberal Christian think tank Ekklesia;
• Baroness Lorely Burt, HSLD Co-President;
• Cordelia Tucker O'Sullivan, lead author of "Time for Reflection", last year's parliamentary humanist group's report on religion or belief in government;
• chaired by Alistair Carmichael MP, LibDem spokesperson on Constitutional Reform.
